This picture was taken by me on the birthday of Mum, two years ago today. The 20th of December. At Coul House, her favourite - by far - Scottish afternoon tea haunt.

She may be gone from this earth - but she will absolutely NEVER be forgotten. Today she'd have turned 89. And just so you all know: there's more joy today than there is sadness as the hours unravel without her. Today - and everyday - we celebrate the most remarkable Mum, Mum in Law, Auntie, Granny, woman, sister, wife and friend to oh, so many.

That said, I still can't believe she's gone. It just doesn't seem real. But all, I suppose, is good. It has to be, right? She would expect it this way: she would want that we all just get on with everything. I just hope the crustless sandwiches, scones, tablet and tea are as good up there as they are at Caol House. And the tea, God damn it, better be served in fine bone china. Just how Mum liked it.

Joyously, Justin and Colin and all of us, everywhere xxx
