Today on eBay we would buy... these dowdy pine bedside cabinets.

UPCYCLING. First we'd jig saw the bases to lose the scrolled, ahem, 'flair'. Then we'd remove the handles. Then we'd paint the cabinets white. Then we'd use soft baby pink scumble or pearlescent type wash across the entire surface. And we'd add little ball shaped brass pulls from Lee Vallley. And we'd use a gold pen to create 'frames' just inside the outside line of each drawer - this would add extra dimension. Job done. Money saved. And furniture pieces that dodge the landfill site. A simple afternoon job and some dreamy results. Do it, for the love of all things good and stylish...
